Memorial Biography

On Wednesday, July 11th, 2018, Stephen Gregory Joseph Heiner, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed into eternity at the age of 79. Stephen will be forever missed by his wife of 40 years, Margaret, his twin sister Michelle, his children Stephen, Clare, Christienne, and Rachel, his three sons-in-law, Olin, Joseph, and Joshua, and eleven grandchildren. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and even acquaintances. He was known for his kind and gentle spirit and ready smile. Stephen was born in Los Angeles in 1938 to Lawrence and Angela Heiner. He attended St. John’s Military School, St. Paul the Apostle, and Beverly Hills Catholic School. He graduated with a classical diploma from Loyola High School and would go on to graduate with a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma. He remained an ardent Trojan for the years to come. Stephen enjoyed an interesting career in the oil industry, which took him from the Middle East to Southeast Asia, where he met his wife, Margaret, in Singapore. After 19 years abroad he brought his growing family to the United States where after some moves he returned to Southern California, where he spent his childhood and young adulthood. He went on to have a completely different career, this one at Disneyland, where he greeted the many visitors to the popular theme park with his trademark friendliness. He retired from Disneyland after 15 years, in 2016. Stephen died in the religion in which he was born, Roman Catholicism, and which he passed on to all his children. They too hold the Catholic faith as the single most important treasure of their lives, to be preferred to all things on this side of eternity.
